Fort Worth Zoo
PARROT PARADISE VOLUNTEERS
NEEDED, April 2004
The Fort Worth Zoo
is opening a new exhibit called "Parrot Paradise". It's a walk
through aviary where zoo guests can see and feed lorries and parakeets.
Since the exhibit will open around the end of May we will need to begin
making the seed sticks that Zoo guests will feed the colorful birds soon.
This a great volunteer opportunity for small to
medium sized groups and organizations. Please let Dennis know if your
organization can help. Schedules are flexible and they hope to begin the
week of Monday, May 10th. They prefer shifts from 3:30 to 5:30 but can
work with your schedule. Please contact Dennis with the days and times
you would be available and also with the number of folks who could come.
Thank you in advance. Dennis Myrick, Volunteer Resource
Manager, Fort Worth
Zoo, 817 759-7255
GPISD Clothes Closet
Girl Scouts can volunteer to help sort and hang clothes
for the GPISD Clothes Closet sponsored by the GP Woman's Club
(KIDS I.N.C.) We could use the extra help on Saturdays especially during
the summer when we get the clothes from lost and found, from all the schools.
They can help on Saturdays if there is a need. Contact Pat
Jackson.
Parkland Hospital
One of our group leaders, Jeanette Laraway, works
part-time at Parkland as a Social Worker in the areas of Surgery, Trauma,
and Women/Children. One of the things they do for patients (adults and
newborns) is give them clothes if they do not have any, from shoes &
socks to pants & shirts. However, at present they are running very
low on such supplies. If you all have any winter clothes that you've been
considering getting rid of, please let Jeanette know. Also when you all
start doing your spring cleaning and such, you can donate your gently
used clothes to the Social Services department at Parkland Hospital.
If you could pass this on to people that you think might be able to help
out, that would be great! Thank you in advance for you help! Jeanette's
email address is spartacus_jl@hotmail.com.
THANKS!
