Song:
Campfire Napalm (aka "The Flaming Marshmallow")
Sung to the tune of "Battle Hymn of the Republic" or "Pink Pajamas"

The story of how this song came to be is worth of a bit of space in it's own right. This lyrics to this song were written by the girls and leaders of troop 1322 during a camping trip in October 2007. Grand Prairie Troop 1322 hopes you enjoy it as much as we do. Feel free to share these lyrics with other Girl Scout, but please credit our troop for the creation when you do. Here's how this song came about.

The girls were roasting marshmallows and goofing off when a leader warned them to be careful not to "flick" the marshmallow off of the cooking stick becuase it would stick and burn like Napalm (gelatin-like gasoline) to whatever or whoever it landed upon. The girls thought this image of a flying burning marshmallow would be an amusing theme for a song, and so the challenge of putting together lyrics to tell this tail of good fun gone wrong and how Girl Scout ingenuity saved the day began to develop.

First, we had to get the marshmallow into the story... so we set the scene around a campfire, very much like our own. Of course, it had to be a guy that does the flicking becuase Girl Scouts would never do anything as dangerous as all this!

At this point, one of the girls had the idea of all the forest animals having to run for thier lives, so a racoon (cute and smart, like Girl Scouts) was chosen to represent all the creatures. The racoons running for thier lives quickly became a part of the song as well.

We reached a point where the forest was on fire, the wildlife was running for it's life, and the guys that started it all were in a total panic. Of course, the girls were laughing wildly, but lights out time was approaching, so we needed to wrap it up. We knew we wanted Girl Scouts to be the heroes of the story, so we had them show up in the nick of time, stop the fire, provide first aid to the victims, and generally save the day.

And thus, Campfire Napalm, or "The Flaming Marshmallow" song was born. Here it is in Word format for easy download and printing to teach to your troop.
